Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off and Prepare the Device
Completely power off your Microsoft Surface Pro. Disconnect any accessories and remove any inserted memory cards. Place the device on a static-free mat, and wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge.
Heat the Edges of the Screen
Using a heat gun or hairdryer, gently heat the edges of the screen to soften the adhesive. Maintain a safe distance to avoid overheating, and move the heat source continuously around the perimeter for about 2-3 minutes.
Lift the Screen
Once the adhesive is softened, use a suction cup to gently lift the screen. Insert a plastic opening tool between the screen and the frame. Carefully slide the tool around the edges to separate the screen from the adhesive.
Disconnect the Battery
Locate and remove the screws securing the battery connector cover using the T5 Torx screwdriver. Carefully disconnect the battery using tweezers to minimize the risk of short circuits.
Remove the Old Screen
Continue using the plastic opening tool to detach the rest of the screen. Be cautious around the corners and connectors. Once free, gently lift the screen and disconnect the ribbon cables using tweezers.
Prepare the Frame for the New Screen
Remove any residual adhesive from the frame using a spudger. Clean the frame with a lint-free cloth. Apply new double-sided adhesive tape to the frame, ensuring it aligns with the original adhesive placement.
Install the New Screen
Carefully connect the ribbon cables of the new screen to the motherboard. Align the screen with the frame and gently press it onto the adhesive. Ensure all sides are securely attached and aligned properly.
Reconnect the Battery and Test
Reconnect the battery connector and secure it with the previously removed screws. Power on the device to test the new screen's functionality. Check for touch responsiveness and display clarity.
Finalize the Repair
Once testing is complete, press down firmly around the edges to ensure the screen is fully adhered. Reattach any accessories and remove the anti-static wrist strap.
