Follow these 9 steps to complete your repair
Power Off the Device
Start by completely powering off your OnePlus 5T. Press and hold the power button until the power menu appears, then select 'Power off'. Wait until the device is fully shut down.
Remove the SIM Card Tray
Using a SIM card eject tool or a paperclip, remove the SIM card tray from the side of the device. Set the tray aside safely.
Heat the Back Cover
Using a heat gun or hair dryer, gently heat the edges of the back cover of the phone. This will soften the adhesive securing the cover. Be careful not to overheat the device.
Pry Open the Back Cover
Use a suction cup to lift the back cover slightly and insert a plastic opening tool into the gap. Carefully slide the opening tool around the edges to release the adhesive. Be gentle to avoid damaging the cover or internal components.
Disconnect the Battery Connector
With the back cover removed, locate the battery connector on the motherboard. Use a spudger to carefully disconnect the battery connector, ensuring not to damage the surrounding components.
Remove the Old Battery
Use the spudger to gently pry out the battery. If it's difficult to remove, apply a bit more heat to the adhesive and try again. Do not bend or puncture the battery during this process.
Install the New Battery
Place the new battery in the phone, aligning it properly with the connectors. Secure it with new adhesive strips to ensure it stays in place.
Reconnect the Battery and Reassemble
Reconnect the battery connector to the motherboard. Carefully replace the back cover, pressing firmly around the edges to secure the adhesive. Reinsert the SIM card tray.
Power On the Device
Power on your OnePlus 5T to ensure the new battery is properly installed and functioning. If the device does not power on, double-check all connections and ensure the battery is charged.
